The 200-hour Teacher Training program at The Elements in Charlottesville, VA explores the process and science of yoga. It is designed to transform passionate students into powerful teachers.

While there is much to learn and study to become a yoga teacher, we believe that if it is not brought into our experience, it will fade into shadow. The program is physically, mentally and spiritually challenging, but because we cannot teach where we have not been, this work is necessary to develop ourselves into effective, heartfelt teachers. Our program is based in practical, hands on, visual and interactive workshops. Teaching yoga is visceral, exciting and energetic, - full of caring, sweat, compassion, courage, vulnerability and love. We aim to teach you how to deeply connect with your students and by doing so, your knowledge, skills, study, hard work and self-practice will shine through. Your ability to reach every student where they stand today will facilitate their growth, healing and well-being and is one of the most rewarding and transformative things a person can do in their life. The Elements Teacher Training will provide you with tools to will peel away the layers you no longer need, and set you on a new path of power, discovery and meaning. You will leave with new goals, ideals and skills and understanding some of the world’s greatest wisdom teachings. You will discover more about yourself than you imagined possible, let go of limitations and reveal your own inner truth.

At The Elements our aim is to break barriers between yoga systems and unite them. Our Teacher Training incorporates many styles of yoga into one experience, creating a sustainable system of transformation.  

The 200-hour Teacher Training program explores the process and science of yoga. It is designed to transform passionate students into powerful teachers. It has two main intentions. The first is to teach the core principles of yoga and how to implement them into daily life, positively shifting the way we live and how we perceive our world. The second is to develop within each student the key attributes of a teacher. We’ve designed specific training drills that dramatically accelerate that learning process. Upon graduation, you’ll be able to confidently lead group classes through three systems, Nyata (Stability-Earth), Vinyasa (Flow-Water), Core Stabilization (Fire)

You can choose any dates for the 2 modules. Upon completion of module 1 AND 2, you will receive your certificate.

  • Learn key principles of asana and learn functional alignment, as well as foundational principles of yoga practice.

  • Interactive posture workshops will develop your understanding of alignment, correcting, modifying and the physical and energetic benefits of postures.

  • Learn how to use props and how to perform hands-on adjustments.

ANATOMY AND MOVEMENT PRINCIPLES

  • Gain knowledge of alignment principles to keep students safe

  • Understand the importance of the myofacial lines of the body

  • Learn practical anatomy and physiology that is relevant not just on the blackboard, but in the yoga studio with real bodies

  • Learn anatomy that is applicable and valuable to your teaching and to your understanding of your students’ bodies

  • Become skilled and proficient at understanding and reading bodies – anatomically and energetically - which is an essential skill in being an inspirational yoga teacher that can adapt their teaching to suit all types of students

VOICE, PRESENCE, AND INFLUENCE

  • Develop techniques to motivate, calm & influence your students on a deep & meaningful level

  • Practice techniques and develop skills that will develop your confidence, presence, and ability to influence

    individuals and groups in both a heartfelt and effective way

  • Voice and Delivery

PHILOSOPHY AND PSYCHOLOGY

  • Understand the System of Transformation – a path to liberation

  • Learn the tools to develop emotional intelligence

  • Learn the Law of Attraction and Intention and how to apply it in our lives

PRACTICUM

  • Shadow classes by the completion of your 2nd weekend

  • If ready, start teaching by the end of your 4th weekend. It’s up to you when you want to start teaching to

    build stronger tools that will develop your teaching style and solidify your learning

HEALTH SKILLS

  • Learn the connection between food, our bodies, and our environment

  • Discover the true power of water

  • Learn the best way to nourish your body to sustain a joyful living.

  • Learn how to answer the health and fitness questions your students will ask you and build support of information and knowledge for the main student questions including injuries, difficulties, physical symptoms of purification, when to alert their doctor and when to modify their poses.

pranayama and meditation

  • Learn the importance of breath and how it effects our energy and how to use it as a gauge in each pose

  • Learn how to direct your breath and energy in your own practice and to use it as a tool to influence your own state

  • Learn how to affect the breathing of your students and how to effectively teach them how to connect with this powerful yogic tool

  • Begin a foundation meditation practice and learn different ways to awaken this powerful practice in your life

  • Learn to use meditation as a tool to clear your mind in order to make space for growth, sensitivity, and awareness.
